ever found the compressor sort of confusing to tweek? well here's a technique which makes it much easier for you, i didn't come up with this technique myself, i actually read it off some site a while back but this technique really has helped me ever since!

Steps:
1. Leave Gain at 0, Set ratio to lets say 2:1 or 7:1.
2. Put attack and release to 0.
3. Play a sound with the compressor on it and lower the threshhold slowly, you'll hear a big difference!
4. While the threshold is reduced by a big amount slowly tweek the release and attack until you hear the sound returning back to normal but hear a difference.
5. Tweek everything to your taste, higher threshold, boost/lower gain if you have to.

id just say, what result you want to make, getting a strong punch; just select a hard knee, quite some threshold and a really big ratio and some attack for a clickish/tokish sound at the start,

or just let the sub flow more into the punch, pick a softish/hardish knee, with zero attack and alot release :) and tweak the ratio and threshold how its needed.
