VOL-E:
plus guys, you ever saw dj's playing hiphop or other genre's on cdj's/vinyl? as if these tracks had any mix-intro's.

check some dnb parties :)

True, DnB is amazing when it comes to mixing. Plus, am I am the only one who is amazed that Phuture Noize responded in this thread?
I hear home in that bass

While I appreciate well-made mixintro's as they make it easier to make a nice cut while mixing instead of reverb/echo/whatever fade-ing out I have to say that mixing technique is completely and utterly irrelevant in nowadays DJ-scene. In order to get a crowd moving it's probably even more usable to know how to handle a microphone.

The relevant things nowadays are track selection and MOST IMPORTANTLY knowing the arrangement of the tracks you play - so that the stage presence is on point. Modern hardstyle has a much more spot-on feeling to it, resembling rather metal or pop concerts than technoid genres. Technical DJ's have become rather irrelevant in this scene - the actual "nerdy" stuff, the magic that happens and that is so cherished on this online forum is in the studio. This also leads to producers mostly showcasing their stuff - instead of playing many other tracks. People are actually coming for "Sub Zero Project" and not for "Sub Zero Project playing tracks from different producers with nice transitions only 5 people notice anyways".

There is much more room to interact with the crowd, to cherish the arrangement of the tracks to it's fullest. The spotlight is on the producers now - and that's a good thing.

I'm very happy to see a number of artists turning to Techno full time or on the side. Ghost In The Machine aka DJ Hidden & Nils from Mindustries is phenomenal. [KRTM]'s Techno stuff is absolutely massive too _O_
All else I want is for Ultraform to return and make some dark techno himself, or even just keep making that dark hard trance he was known for.
