It's not only the technology that has been improved, but also because of that, the techniques have become more complex, not per definition resulting in better end products on every aspect. I also think that with each step towards "musical perfection" a piece of soul is lost in the music. Compare it with an earth full with perfect human beings, that would be a rather uninteresting planet. These diversions from perfection can give tracks an extra dimension.

Thanks for your answer :)

Got another question: Take ex master Michel Pollen. Is he fully "educated" in sound design, and know in his mind how to create and turn osc to get ANY sound he wants? Or is it possible to create sounds with new techniques that hasnt been "thought" of yet? (If that makes sense ;) )

Michel is very much aware of the mathmatical processes happening within different types of synthesis, and is a true master of sound manipulation and processing. And the best thing about this, is that he can apply his knowledge across the multitude of timbres and textures that arise in synthesis, and always come out with something tonally interesting and unique, but still solid in the mix!

as for creating sounds that haven't been "thought of" yet, thats simply imagination/experimentation [accidents too]. the important part is having the know how to process your sound effectively and keep the mix tight!
