Re: The Hard Style Fans - The Love and The Hate.

Besides I don't think STIK or DJ Vortex played a significant role in the origins of hardstyle, sure they were around since the start and became a hardstyle label and artist respectively, but I doubt you can find a handful of people that can name one DJ Vortex/4 Navigators/STIK release from the pre-...

Re: The Hard Style Fans - The Love and The Hate.

What I mean is that you weren't around back then, so your information is based on what you read/hear as well. I'm familiar with the STIK label, and indeed some of the pre-hardstyle era tracks from that label do have some techno sounds to it. However I'm not familiar with this Italian Techno or Progr...

Re: The Hard Style Fans - The Love and The Hate.

You said it started from the influences of Techno, now you say some Hardstyle has Techno influences. That's something totally different. Yes the Straighton black label had techno influences, but it is by no way where its origins lie. And if you're going to write stuff also for non regular listeners,...

Re: The Hard Style Fans - The Love and The Hate.

My apologies there should be the word "respectively" after Hardcore. I think you're missing the point here. Hardstyle has very few to no Techno influences (the only one I can think of is the Straight On Black label, which is more of an exception.) It evolved as a mixture of the harder sid...

Re: The Hard Style Fans - The Love and The Hate.

Techno a bracket genre? Yeah, better tell that to Adam Beyer or Umek. Hard Style started from an amalgamation of genres including and heavily influenced by Techno and Hardcore. I used Techno as a lay mans idea of what Hard Style is in its most simplest forms, with the added musical steroids. It was...

Re: The Hard Style Fans - The Love and The Hate.

there have always been people complaining about people not accepting change in hardstyle (early vs 'classic', 'classic ' vs euphoric, euphoric vs raw ..) but where do the compaining people come from? from the new era because they just found the genre, don't know/like the previous era and don't want...

Re: The Hard Style Fans - The Love and The Hate.

Well written, but your logic is flawed and therefore you don't get to the real roots of the negativity. You can't say the music is not soft because Audiofreq screams at some festival, it's like saying biting dogs don't exist, because yours has never bitten someone. And how do you explain that a lot ...

Re: Activator - Veteran Of Style [Activa Records]

Most stuff sounds solid, yet default early hardstyle. The Bang and the last track sound are amazing though (L)

Re: The Great Debate Continues… Hardstyle’s Future Predictions - [Alive At Night Article]

people who ditched hardstyle altogether from that group (that I know personally) have either 1. moved to hardcore/industrial/crossbreed/terror 2. moved to techno 3. stopped following electronic music in its entirety 4. moved to IDM/Ambient/Modern Classical (mainly through aliases from hardcore arti...

Re: Rawstyle in relaton to Hardcore survey

Completed it, although I don't think there is a concrete boundary between genres. Genres overlap and raw hardstyle is mostly the overlapping part between hardcore and hardstyle.

Re: Popularity of Classic Hardstyle (2005 - 2010)

I don't think that going back to the first state of hardstyle is going to safe it. We can say now that the tree of hardstyle has grown so much, that the roots of it is destroying the road we have to walk on. But cutting away those roots is a risky challenge. So let's plant a new tree, right? I didn...

Re: Popularity of Classic Hardstyle (2005 - 2010)

A few years ago I hated the guys who were against the evolution of the hardstyle sound, but now I am one of those guys lol. The worst thing is that I already knew that the people I discussed with back then would turn around eventually. One big difference however is that back then there were actual ...
