Why no outdoor festival in the Winter season?

Postby Fission » 01 Oct 2012, 21:43

In most countries the risk is too high. Ofc a party in the snow souds awesome, but you can't host that in the Netherlands for example because the chance that it rains and there is
lots of wind is bigger than the chance that there is snow and clear weather. This counts for most countries, except for the Alps or maybe southern France. And of course, the health risks are high too.
zanshi:actually i think it could be rather cool,
in austria we have shitloads of parties in the skiing regions,
winter openings, closings, random parties organized by radio stations etc etc,...
always fun ^_^

Yes, but in a skiing region it's different. It's certain there is snow and not rain and in Austria so it makes sense to host such events. ANd everyone goes in skiing gear right? :P Don't see that happen at the winter edition of Defqon one.

Imagine the electricity for the heating of a huge non-insulated tent, we're talking about hundreds of ampere for just the heating...

Edit: Also hypothermia, the bad combination of cold weather and alcohol, electronics performing poorly in sub-zero temperatures and no semi-nude girls :(
I'm grumpier than you.

Do people even read these?

Its do able, very expensive I would imagine though.

Markove:P.S. We get out of school where I live at for one inch of snow. This entire region goes into panic mode when it snows, so I can't imagine a winter party here.

you pussies! :+ tho, it's kinda common in Europe as well, my friends told me. 1 inch of snow, and everyone lose their minds, and don't know what to do. In Russia we have like what? 4-5 inches of snow, that falls at night, EVERY night (not the whole winter tho, more like on full month in February or January), and everyone is fine with that. we have snowmountains at least 2 meters high, and nobody cares.
diesal11:because it's fucking cold and wet. thats why. no-one wants to rave in the rain.

what rain? you have RAINS in winter? :O

all in all, even if we're kinda used to cold weather most of the time, nobody does winter open-airs in Russia. first of all, so yeah, we're used to hanging outdoors in -30C, but that doesn't mean we like to do it! so that's why all the parties during the winter are indoor parties. second of all, as it was said, the music sounds shitty in cold weather.

Imagine those guys who work with sound & light... in gloves it's hard to use those keyboard buttons, try it at home :D And if someone uses iPad for these things, than it's pretty hard to keep your hands always warm :)

Btw, when the sun shines on snow, I cant look there, my eyes are hurt :D I can't imagine how it will be on the event whith all the lights on :p
i see you with my x-ray
