Atypical Hardstyle

Postby BeatConductor » 07 Apr 2013, 19:15

The only problem I'm having with hardstyle of the past few years is that so many tracks sound the same. Same formula of mid intro, climax, and outro. Kinda boring in my opinion. II'd like to see a topic about tracks that don't really follow the standard hardstyle formula.

I'll post some examples.

Toneshifterz - Quirk

Noisecontrollers - Revolution is Here

Francesco Zeta - Moonlight Blue (Medley Walking In The Air) (Activator rmx)

Frontliner & Ruthless - One Bananaz

Plus almost all tracks by Geck-o and Activator. :D

Funny you mention all of those tracks because those are also the tracks that come to my mind when I think 'unqiue hardstyle' (especially One Bananaz) (L)

Here are some of my other favorites:

All of Ivan Carsten's tracks are extremely unique...My favorite by him is called 'Heavy Tek', you should really check that out too. :)

Superdisco is a rad track. I first heard that one in technoboys X-Qlusive. Ivan carsten is pretty beast too. I never heard that paradise remix before though. Would be great for mixing. Thanks. :3 Zany also should have honorable mentions here, as well as Dozer.

both these tracks are built up almost the same (except the released version of sunblast has a breakdown), plus both tracks have gated kicks :)

cool topic!

i really like experimental-stuff and i think producers should experiment because as you've said, a lot of tracks are the same and to be honest, i'm getting really tired of the mainstream, boring tracks.

my favourites:

Zany - Dance!
Ivan Carsten - The Vision / Evolution Beat
Wildstylez - Huh?
Noisecontrollers & Pavelow - Quatre Mains
Geck-O - Smasher (Delete Remix)
Wavolizer vs DJ Thera - Done With My Stash (Theracords Live Mix)
Alphaverb - Overdrive Ya Woofah
Second Identity - Amplified
TNT - Dial T for TNT

Im digging lots of these tracks. Pattern of the past is awesome, same with structured chaos and what a rush. I think a lot of producers don't experiment is because a lot of listeners are just casual. The casual listeners generally only seem to like the climax melodies and the parts before the climax. I don't say this to bash or anything, but most people, whether they are the hardstyle gods or just average joe producers, both are people and people like to do what most people will like and give kudos for. So, thank you silent majority for "mainstream" hardstyle.

Anywho, ramble done. Thought of some more tracks that were in the unique pile.

The craziness in the beginning. Both of these songs are great for dropping into a mix.

I never hear anything about this song but its just so badass i dunno how people don't rave about it. All parts a sick, especially the outro.

Just awesome. Must be mentioned.

Another favorite of mine i've never heard mention of.
