I don't know if there's already been a topic on this I had a look back a little ways but couldn't find any recent ones

I'm just wondering what bpm you other DJs mix at? Hardstyle obviously...........
When your playing out do you blend into the guys (generic term could mean guys or girls.... I don't wonna upset anyone) set before you if its a different genre? Do you stop there last track then start?

Just trying to keep the conversations flowing haven't seen much going on in here

150 bpm, but if it gets darker at the end i usually play at 153-155
and no, i don't really blend in with the set before me, i just pick a nice track for a start and the cut the previous dj's track (not in the middle of the song ofc), for now i mostly use Hardwell - Spaceman (Headhunterz Remix) as an intro, then my mix goes through various stages, usually starting with more commercial stuff, then it gets darker and darker (e.g. Frequencerz - Bitch), and i ususally finish the whole thing off with either Hardstyle Mafia - Can't Get You Back or Delete - Syndrome... and yeah, most of the time i play at 150... i don't really like to speed up the tracks with no good reason, yeah, sure if i play some track, that has original speed at like 152-155, i go on at that speed, otherwise, it's just 150...
Brennan Heart:It's called hardstyle for good reason. It's hard and it's style

normally I´m playing at 153 BPM but recently I started playing older tracks at the beginning of my sets and for that reason I´m starting with a slower speed like 148 for example but if i do that the max bpm for that set are 150 ;)

I usually start my sets at 152 bpm, speed it up to 155/156 in the middle and have the last track at 160 bpm (last track is always something crazy like No Time To Sleep) :D

Depends. I make freestyle mixes (mostly hardstyle and hardcore, + some jumpstyle, electro house and schranz) so it depends. I usually start at 150, then after 3-4 tracks I move to little harder and more raw/crazier tracks, BPM is about 156-160 then, after that some hardcore and the same thing. (from 170, after midpart I move to 178-185, and then few 190's) So from 130-190 for me.

Start at 150, end at 155. Start cheesy, end raw/heavy.
Simple as that.

The BPM topic.. Let me throw in my 5 cents :)

BPM & Style of music that You play should go hand in hand with the timetable. There is no reason to open the party/event at 155 BPM. The result will probrably be that the crowd will get tired of the music to soon. -Here im talking of primary club events.
Also You have to remember who the "big name" of the evening is. There a some small unwritten rules when it comes to this.
1. Dont play faster bpm than You think/know that he will play after You.
2. Dont play raw/hardcorish hardstyle if the artist is a "mainstream" DJ.
3. Stay away from his tracks, and if You can, also the newest releases of the label he represents.

Remember that most DJs are playing for an audience, and not them selfs. Ive heard really good DJs adapting to the crowd and event, and ive seen DJs who only want to satisfy themselfs. Its a shame, because that wont get You bookings in the future.

A good club event according to me.
1st DJ 140-145 BPM Early & Hardtrance
2nd DJ 145-148 Early / Hardstyle
3rd DJ 150 BPM +/- 1
4th DJ(Big name) 150-153 +/- 1
5th DJ 152-155 Raw
6th DJ Hardcore 160 +++

Thats just my opinion. :)

Most of the time when we're starting, the bpm is just 150, but sometimes it wil run up untill 160-162... Depends a bit of the crowd wether they're going totally wasted or not. =)

I always start with:
+1,5% on 150 BPM tracks
Which means:
+2,9% on 148
+3,6% on 147
+4,3% on 146
+5,0% on 145....

I just started to mix hs with those don't ask me why but now those numbers are in my blood... "A new dbstf is released? +2,9%!"

The longer the set the faster it goes but for at least 30mins I stay on that speed.
