Because banning an event ends the drug problems in their society.

Reading the amount of drugs people use and carry to the festival, they're going way overboard. Banning them won't change a thing (it could slow things up for a while) but if people really use and need that much to enjoy music festivals, maybe they should think first why they go there.

1) How many dies at DefQon in NL? I've barely ever heard of any

2) I am not saying drugs dont have a negative influence on your health and increases the risk of dying. It does. But so does physical exercise for 10 hours in a row. When marathons/half marathons are hosted there are also sometimes some unfortunate deaths - it is an unfortunate fact of life.

3) Whats the level of first aid services/tents? There are plenty of those at the festivals in NL....

I think it is sad if this is blown too much out of proportion - it does seem that the AUS scene might have a drug culture that is not focused enough on also protecting themselves but 2 persons out of 30.000 gives a 0,0066% risk of dying of a drug overdose by going to DefQon.

I hope the AUS scene will work towards brining that percentage even lower, but dont make an overkill miss prime minister.

Bruh, risk of dying if you overdose is more than 0,0066%

It’s just the drug politics which is wrong. Pretty much everywhere besides NL. In Norway festivals like this is banned for a reason. This stupid politics results in low knowledge, high-potency and fake, potentially harmfull drugs.
I think we all know the answer.. Explosions!

As much as it sucks if people die because of overdose on drugs, it also sucks when officials start making rushed decisions like that on their own to ban the event because of a few people makes stupid decisions regards to drug use.

If it comes to that people have to fight back for the sake of democracy, I don't attend any HS events but I think it's important that decisions like that is done in a correct way. Banning a festival isn't tackling the root of the issue and is unfair to 90% of the people who can behave according to rules.

EDIT: Wait, isn't there a 0-tolerance to drugs on such festivals already?

The more things are forbidden and looked down upon, the more those things get overused and abused. That childhood mentality 'you cant have *insert object like candy or something* = makes said object 10x more interesting' just never really leaves the human mind most of the times. That's why relaxed drug policies = win. I don't use x, coke or speed but I'm glad I live in NL where there's no stigma and all that. And when I'm at Qlimax or Defqon or whatever, the people who are completely off their minds (more than the others) are usually not Dutchies. People who are not from NL don't get tons of events a year to enjoy so when they get the chance, they make sure to go apeshit. And I'm cringing SO hard at those commercial news sites blaming the festivals and the organizations..
The only limit is your own imagination.
