Hey guys so i just came back home after being gone for 2 days and there seems to be a weird problem, my ableton never lagged at all before and all of a sudden when i seem to play my audio on ableton it lags horribly and uses so much CPU! anyone got any ideas?

Did you check your buffer size? Maybe you turned it down accidentally if you didn't turn it up ;)
If you´re using ableton on windows check if your audio output is WAV that really fucks up your cpu :P

cheers!

Is it because it has a learning curve to it?

Maybe but I really don´t know :D I think it´s very intuitive and IF it should crash it´ll recreate most of the project... only to name one thing which I like on this DAW :P If you have questions about it just add me and ask if u want :D

Can someone help me, how do I set up my Drum pattern in Ableton (I thought it was through the Piano Roll)?

In FL Studio, i can just open the Piano Roll, and drop 4 notes for the kick. But in Ableton, when I double-click my pattern, I don't see any piano roll. So how do I edit my drum pattern?

Not sure I understand exactly what you're trying to do. Do you mean when you're using Impulse for drums? Or using Simpler/Sampler in a MIDI channel? Or even working with straight audio clips? Sorry, but I have no idea about FL Studio so I can't quite comprehend the reference.

Straight audio clips. I have a file called Kick1.wav. I want to drop it in Positions 1,4,8,16 (every 4th beat). How do I do it? When I drop it into the AudioTrack, there's only 1 sample, and I need 4 of those.

zanshi:copy & paste?

:one:

Alternatively, you can use the Duplicate command as well by highlighting the range of the first beat and using CTRL-D/CMD-D. It's essentially the same but uses up to* 50% less keystrokes while also halving the workload of the mouse in your other hand- xD I mean... it's, like, workflow... and all that.

*25% less if you never release the modifier when doing a copy/paste. :+
