Time to legalize and control it imo.
Would be better than arresting people for it.

For all people who like Ambient/IDM kind of music. Tympanik Audio closes its doors. :(

Dear Friends,
It is with a heavy heart that I announce the end of Tympanik Audio. After over 8 years of releasing music, I can no longer finance the label. This was a difficult decision for sure and something that I have struggled with for the past few years. I have done my very best to keep Tympanik going for as long as I could but unfortunately I can no longer support it financially. The label, and in turn me personally, are severely in debt and can no longer keep up with the mounting taxes I have accumulated over the years.
So the time has come to say goodbye. I hope Tympanik Audio and our family of artists have enriched your lives in some way. My initial goal was to promote established and up-and-coming talents to give them the exposure I felt they deserved and I feel like I have accomplished that to the best of my abilities. Tympanik Audio was never meant to be a business, but unfortunately it ultimately turned out that way and as with any business venture comes varying degrees of success and loss. Nevertheless, I am very proud of what we have accomplished.
Although Tympanik will not be releasing any more new music, our shop will remain open throughout the end of the year. Our physical releases will continue to be distributed through our normal outlets. In an effort to liquidate our remaining stock of CDs, all releases featured on our Bandcamp site will remain at 50% off until the end of the year. Simply use discount code tympanik16 as you add items to your cart. If you'd like to make a large order, please email me directly.
I personally want to thank you all for your years of support - I couldn't have done this without you and I truly mean that. In addition, I would like to thank all the artists, sound engineers, designers, and promoters who have helped Tympanik along the way – YOU are the Tympanik family and always will be.
Farewell.
- Paul Nielsen

Well that ain't good news. Most of their output is amazing and it's sad to see that such a good label is now (almost) dead.

Now I feel bad that I didn't support them. being poor has its downsides eh

Sad to see Tympanik is no longer releasing although I wasn't very up to date with the releases of the last year. But it used to be my fav label :(

If he stopped making music, it would be much much worse. Really loves his music, so glad he will keep on making that. I guess its all about the music for him and that is so awesome :)
