Unpopular opinions

Katsching:imo, not being there at all. Let the music do the motivating, dancing and establishing atmosphere. I don't want anybody to tell me to do this and that in such a ridiculous way (especially with Villain) that I actually stop dancing and look to my guys next to me with a wtf face

and it is easy to say it works for most people because they are there for the music anyways and an MC happens to be there. But I'm sure most of them would have the same fantastic time (and would be able to hear the whole break and buildup cleanly btw) if an MC wasn't there at all = the definition of 'unnecessary'

You make it sound like you feel commanded by him and he's your teacher or something :+ imo MC's are not super necessary either, but it's his job, he's just doing what Q (or other organisators) are telling him to do. And in the case of TBA's btw, it's logical since it makes the tracks less likely to be ripped for yt/sc.

i know it's not really an unpopular opinion but i'm with Katsching here.

- the crowd would have a good time without an mc anyway
- the break is there for a reason (listening to the atmosphere, the vocals, etc)

there's nothing wrong with moderate MC'ing but saying ridiculous shit and talking immediately when there's even a 5 second break is not proper MC'ing, i think.

I am not a fan of this childish type of MC'ing either that is Villains style.

However,
- I like DV8.
- I usually don't enjoy the solo tracks from B-front. His "long" notes in the climaxes doesn't fit my taste at all.
- I wish dubstyle made a comeback.
- I don't like that Hardstyle is being played during big-room house events. I have a feeling that it pushes producers to make more "big-room hardstyle" (which I hate).

I had the same concern as you but I think we already passed the era of big room hardstyle (around the time it got picked up for the first time by those artists), which I'm really happy about. :D

I think an artist can also do it if I imagine an MC-less world.

That would sound/look really weird since artists don't have a MC vocabulary handbook at home :+

'yoo guys just gonna scream over this track cuz i don't want it to be ripped oh shit the break still takes 30 seconds what am i gonna say now blueehleubelbuehbleuele put your hands up for me, the weather is good bleueheu ah the break is finished enjoy guys' :+

It also sometimes sounds like this. Whenever an MC says something like "common guys, let us all unite for this special moment. Hardstyle is our passion." or "everybody clap together, clap with me, 1,2,3....common", I'm like 'what?! No, I'm deliberately not clapping because you say that childish crap. I just wanna enjoy the music, the mixing, the vibrations and don't want to hear these brainless quotes and commands from your already mentioned "MC handbook".

and yes, it is their job and they do what they wanna do for their living but - and once again the word 'necessary' come in there - they are not necessary at ANY event. All these organisations and companies hire them. I didn't say it is the MCs' fault of being unnecessary. It's like marzipan on a cake. Most cakes are generally thought of looking better with marzipan on it but how many people actually eat that? I guess most of them take it off the cake because the cake taste better without marzipan anyways.

and yeah, the last reason seems tooootally legit

There have been sets and events with no MCs that worked well. Sensation Black 2003-2006 worked just fine with no official MC all night, just let the music speak.
That being said though it definitely works for certain artists to have an MC, for example Villain doing that freestyle to open for Darkraver at SB 2006

Nepsaol:- I like DV8.

I can't stand DV8. He ruined the last time I saw Donkey Rollers just because he wanted all the crowd to sit down and some people didn't want. So he just sat there during 2 or 3' telling everyone (and mostly in dutch) to sit down or whatever. And generally I don't think his performances to be that great. If he doesn't ruin the set, I'm happy

Nepsaol:- I wish dubstyle made a comeback.

Same here. I really liked that breakbeat hardstyle vibe and am always disapointed when Bas release a track as Pavelow since I'm waiting for that dubstyle banger and everything that comes is just dubstep

I think an MC is great if they say just the right amount of words. At present, all MC's say too much but to not have any makes it a little barren. Short, sharp jabs of sentences 3-4 times during a set at appropriately spaced times is the optimum goal I think.

No MC is a bit extreme but whatever 1 step is above No MC, that's what I would like :)

Headhunterz - MF Point of Perfection with Brennan Heart is my favorite hardstyle / dubstyle track of all time. The atmosphere that track created was immense.
Stand before them and there is no beginning, follow them and there is no end.
Stay with the Project, move with the One.

Youtube comments complaining about people filming during events annoys me WAY MORE than people filming during events.
