Hardstyle's firsts

Postby The Convicted » 22 Jun 2018, 13:08

Okay, I think it would be great to have a "historical" topic like this to collect milestones, first occurences of important things having an affect of today's form of hardstyle. Excepting to see things like the first track with crunchy kicks, first raw hardstyle track, first hardstyle event, labels... but everything is accepted! Or if you have questions, don't hesitate to ask, somebody will answer :)

So let the debate begin ;D

I've always wondered which is the first track to use pitching kicks with a melody, I have Zany - Science & Religion and Donkey Rollers - [war of the worlds track whose name escapes me] in my mind but I've never known for sure.

Another contribution: I know SZP popularized the 'psy hype', but they definitely didn't start it. I think this was the first one with these elements?

Phrantic's LSD was released in 2013, although it doesn't really contain psytrance kicks, but the mid-intro and mid-outro are heavily influenced.

Maybe I am wrong but was Porn by Zany & Pavo the first hardstyle track which used screeches?

I hear home in that bass

Even though the followers one sounds better, I think this one was first (2004):
And well - it really sounds like the Followers one is an alternation of this one.

If I'm strictly looking at the release dates, I'm guessing it's this one instead?

Porn is from 2003 and Scream is 2002.

Edit: or even this one! That sound is kinda screechy in the background.

What was the very first “rawstyle/raw hardstyle” track?

I think Zatox's new sound around 2009 gave life for early raw hardstyle.

If I'm listening to the earlier nu-style tracks I experience a bit different sound design than this one for example. I know there are several tracks with a wicked atmosphere, heavy kicks and nasty screeches before/at that time (A2, some Fusion or Spoontech stuff mostly), but I don't really consider them raw, just simply dark.

Edit: asking for the first euphoric hardstyle track guys! I feel like it must be Wasted Penguinz or Code Black from 2011/12.

If I remember correctly, The Pitcher (don’t remember track) was the track that ushered in the anti-climax. Track was played at Qlimax during The Pitcher & Zany set. Qlimax
